General Fishing Info

As a member of the Lake Shannon Association you have access to one of the best fishing lakes in Southeast Michigan.  The lake offers fishing opportunities for Pike, Walleye, Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Yellow Perch, Blue Gills, Sunfish, Rock Bass, Catfish, Carp and even an occasional Dog Fish (American Bowfin).

Catching large numbers of fish is fairly common and catching big fish is as well.  Five pound Largemouth Bass are caught regularly and an 8 pounder has been caught on the lake.  Walleyes in the 25” range and Pike in the 40” range have also been caught.  Numbers & size of Smallmouth Bass are increasing.

The information presented here is intended to be fairly specific to Lake Shannon, if you want detailed information on any of the baits or techniques referenced just do an internet search on them and you should be able to find plenty of detailed information.

The fishing on Lake Shannon is great, let’s keep it that way.  Please obey all state laws and practice catch and release as much as possible.  If you do decide to keep fish to eat, keep the smallest legal fish possible, they will make the best eating and keep the breeders and the lunkers in the lake.

Tight Lines,
Ken Chu
